Mental Illness: Coping with the Trend?

Hi, and welcome to our shell.
(Yes, cringe, i know, but try to keep up with it)

Before anything else, I would like to emphasis that this post will be about the surrounding, about the people around them, and not about those who suffers mental illness. And this post is my two cents.

Looking through the attention given to the mental illnesses, it was a relief, yes, as more and more  people begin to understand and aware about how serious this is. "This illnesses should be treated like a physical treatment", "Even though it can't be seen, doesn't mean it isn't real", "Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of". Now, I bet most of you have heard of it. It's a common quotes that can be seen all over our social medias. Everyone seems to be so care about this issues, but do they really are?

I'm not saying most of you didn't even care about this. But some of us only give attention into it because it's a trend. As long as you know about it, and voiced out a little about how we should stand for them, then it's fine. It's a way to cope with the trend. Helping them? Nah, they will get over that sadness soon anyway.

Your mouth said "Depression is real", what about your mind?

In my own experienced, I could see everyone was talking about it, some also had presented this topic in front of all of students. They were spouting out the fact that how bad it is if no one talk to them, how mean it is if no one help them, and how cruel it is if no one stay beside them. Everyone was nodding, agreeing to it. I just stay still, because ironically, weren't all of us did nothing?  Funny.

Now, let me ask. Have you noticed that one person who always smile, and make crappy jokes, to see your laugh?

Have you noticed anyone who hide their sadness with the fake grin?

And, have you noticed the scars on their hands that they were covering for the whole time?

No one saw mine.

Start looking around and help them. They're your friends, anyway.

    1. We tend to make mistakes anyway. And yes, the invisible one won't fade away.
